Using Revenue per Employee as an LSP Business Metric

Language service providers (LSPs) often wonder how they perform when compared against their peers. There are many ways of measuring performance, but average revenue per full-time employee (FTE) is a commonly used business metric in many industries. In this brief, we present average revenue per employee for translation, localization, and interpreting suppliers, based on data we collected from nearly 1,000 companies (see “Language Services Market: 2010,” May10). We also show how this metric changes by geography, company size, and the types of services offered by LSPs.
