Given the enormous volumes of content that companies around the world want to provide in other languages, machine translation (MT) appears to be an inevitable component of most corporate strategies (see “Content Strategy for the Global Enterprise,” Apr11). However, the traditional quest for perfect linguistic quality from corporate localization departments will sometimes stand in the way of MT. This brief focuses on reducing the frequent tension between MT quality and quantity.
