Summary

Implementing translation performance metrics is one sign of increasing maturity for language service teams (see "Accelerating Localization Maturity," Jan11, and "Localization Maturity Evolves," Jan11). In August and September 2011, we asked 226 buyers who manage language services what type of metrics or additional information would help them benchmark their teams' performance against that of other teams (see "Translation Performance Metrics," Dec11, and "Understanding Your Customers’ Translation Performance," Dec11). In this brief, we share what they told us, provide guidelines on how to keep metrics simple, and offer advice on how language service providers (LSPs) can support their clients during metrics implementation.
