Summary

Multiple forces have conspired to deflate translation prices (see “Trends in Translation Pricing,” Sep12). Several of those drivers – optimized purchasing, automation, and variable quality − reflect evolving business practices and requirements. Digging deeper, we see a fundamental shift in the outsourcing paradigm for translation as buyers move from relying on third parties for basic outsourcing to using those same resources to improve critical business processes.
