Summary
Evaluation of return on content begins with understanding the language composition of the online world. CSA Research’s annual online benchmarks capture the total economic opportunity that global brands address when they add a new language. The benchmarks provide global brands baseline numbers for the size of each language audience and the total economic contribution of those individuals. Add the benchmarks to budgeting and market entry calculations, content tiering strategies, and digital campaign analyses. Examples of how global brands use the online language benchmarks:

  • e-GDP (opportunity) lays the groundwork for language tiering. A global organization’s information footprint generally varies by online language tier.

  • Total online population (audience) serves as the fundamental denominator for campaign reach calculations. Campaign reach – how many people see an offer, e-mail, video, or page – can be rendered as a percentage of this "base reach" benchmark.
