Trados continues the trend of the last two years in the language services and tools industry by bringing in a successful executive from another market segment. In this case, CEO Joe Campbell has hired a former colleague from content management player iManage (acquired by Interwoven IWOV) to manage EMEA sales, a region that brings Trados 55% of its revenue.

His previous experience at European companies providing business process management software (ViewStar, now Global360) and workflow (Leitz/CSE) provides credibility for talking about translation workflow technologies. While a fresh outlook and lots of energy characterize these new executives, none have found the magic bullet that gets buyers buying. Baudouin's immediate challenge will be overcoming challenges such as customer dissatisfaction with pricing and the disinclination of language service providers to invest in commercial translation workflow and project management.
