The OASIS-driven Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA) lets companies create topic-oriented, information-typed content that can be reused and single-sourced as needed. This object-oriented approach to content taxonomies and management also lets organizations develop new information types, describe new information domains, and associate output transformations on these types. Idiom has taken an early position in this framework, thus getting it some attention from major proponent IBM and co-billing at the Austin Users Group meeting.

While DITA is not today's (or tomorrow's or even next week's) answer to content sprawl and single source, it is a promising solution that we believe will be a major component of addressing the "transformational imperative" several years from now.
