Google Searches for "localization guru," Finds Major Resource in Ireland

For more than a year we have received phone calls from former colleagues, LinkedIn requests for the chance to meet us to talk about a job at Google, and direct inquiries from recruiters about a top-level job in Mountain View.
We know many of those interviewed -- and not hired by Google. While we would concede that some of our contacts were more qualified than others for the job, we do have to say that any one of the rejected candidates would have been better than having no one in that position for a year or more.
So Google seeks to find the perfect blend of technology, charisma, academic credentials, creativity, and other intangibles in its quest for someone to lead its globalization efforts. In its latest effort to find that perfect international soulmate, Google turned to recruiter Korn/Ferry with no results. Then we think someone at corporate headquarters decided to google "localization guru" and discovered a previously unheard of country named Ireland where localization knowledge flows like foaming stout from every tap. Google talked to Reinhard Schäler, director of the Localisation Resource Centre at the University of Limerick, about any Irish superstars they might hire, but to no avail.
The next step? Google could try Match.com or eHarmony with the latter's offer to match applicants on 29 dimensions of compatibility.
