Summary
Some software developers hope to leverage the latest wave of artificial intelligence research to replace human translators. Others more realistically are incorporating AI to enhance the capabilities of human translators. This report analyzes the software development activity that will result in augmented translation software, an AI-enabled approach that CSA Research identifies as a tight integration of various technologies that promises to make linguists more efficient and enhances the quality of their work. This approach does not ask them to clean up machine output. Instead, it offers up suggestions to assist them in producing a translation.
